7-Days Machame Route
The Marangu Route, also known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” is the only Kilimanjaro route with hut accommodations, making it a popular choice for climbers seeking a shorter and more comfortable trek. Though less scenic than other routes, it offers a steady ascent and well-maintained paths.

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer to your accommodation in Arusha. Relax and enjoy a welcome dinner as you prepare for the adventure ahead.
Elevation: 6,046 ft to 8,858 ft Distance: 8 km Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Habitat: Rainforest
After a driving from Arusha, we check in at Marangu Gate and begin our trek through the dense rainforest. The trail gradually ascends through towering trees, offering a chance to spot blue monkeys. As we gain elevation, the forest thins, revealing open hillsides before reaching Mandara Hut. In the evening, we take an optional acclimatization hike to Maundi Crater for stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s peaks.
Elevation: 8,858 ft to 12,205 ft Distance: 12 km (7 miles) Hiking Time: 6-8 hours Habitat: Heath
The trail continues through rainforest before transitioning into the moorland zone. The vegetation changes, and we may spot unique high-altitude plants such as giant lobelias and Senecios. As we ascend, breathtaking views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks emerge, signaling our approach to Horombo Hut.

At Gilman’s Point (18,600 ft), we witness a spectacular sunrise before making the final push to Uhuru Peak (19,341 ft), the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating at the summit, we descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut for the night.
